Panduri is a traditional Georgian three-stringed instrument widely spread in all regions of Georgia. Panduri is generally used as an accompaniment instrument. It accompanies solo heroic, comic and love songs, but sometimes it is used in dances too. This instrument is usually played by both men and women. In past Panduri was often played during feasts, weddings or religious holidays. In general rule, Panduri is cut out from the whole core of wood, also there is a different manner of designing this instrument, when the instrument body is glued part by part, by attaching thin wooden plates together. Here is shown Folk Panduri with 6 frets. It's tunning from down: C-A-G. Sometimes B-G-F. Please listen some sample recordings.
